Just how deep depends on your needs.

Unlike resins and thinly-applied topcoats, Hue’s colours are as deep as the asphalt surface course layer. The colour you see on the surface is the colour the whole way through, meaning even with wear over time the colour will remain. Depending on your specification and budget, Hue colours can go as deep as needed for high-traffic areas, or as little as 25mm for pedestrian areas.

Hue isn't a resin surface, it's an asphalt course that has the same durable qualities of conventional asphalt. It's installed at the same depth and sits on traditional asphalt binder course. Each colour is available in a range of grades to suit the surroundings, required finish and wear characteristics of your project.

Coloured asphalt allows for superior and clearer delineation of traffic areas such as cycle ways, bus lanes and pedestrian zones.

Pedestrians and cyclists are more visible at night against a coloured surface than a traditional black road.

Coloured asphalt can be offered as a porous product, allowing water to soak into the ground where it naturally falls. This makes it ideal for use in sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS).

Unlike standard black asphalt, coloured asphalts reflect the sun’s UV light, reducing the effect of urban heat islands. Cooler surface temperatures have less impact on our climate with the added benefit of increasing pavement durability.

Coloured asphalts are brighter, reducing street lighting energy requirements as well as helping to illuminate areas prone to anti-social behaviour and creating a safer environment.

Compared to standard asphalt mixes and conventional bitumen our coloured asphalt material is mixed at a reduced temperature using Mexphalte CLT, reducing the energy needed for manufacture.

Everything’s better with chips.

Just because it has to be black hot rolled asphalt doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Hue coloured chippings elevate dark surfaces with little glimmers and pops of joy. We can supply natural stone green, red and buff chippings in a range of grades with a coating of pigmentable bitumen and the matching dye.
